King David had it in his heart to build a house for the Lord. But the Lord said that HE would build a house for David. How sweet is that?! (1 Chronicles 17)
I grew up in the suburbs of Maryland in a small city called Columbia. Ever heard of it? A planned community, designed to bring down the walls of bigotry like class and race….
Then David the king went in and sat before the LORD and said, “Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my house that You have brought me this far? For You, O my God, have revealed to Your servant that You will build for him a house; therefore Your servant has found courage to pray before You. Now, O LORD, You are God, and have promised this good thing to Your servant.” 1 Chronicles 17:16, 25-26
This is the backyard behind our house. Trees and more trees and the animals who live there! See the squirrel? We see LOTS of squirrels, all types of birds, deer, owls, a snake every now and then, frogs, etc, etc, etc…. (I joke to myself that our house is so situated that it’s kinda like a tree house! 😉 )
Next are images from my terrace here in Midtown and the corner nearby on 3rd Avenue. (I love 3rd Avenue!) I don’t see too many animals around here…
How different the landscape! And yet, I am perfectly cozy and at home in either place.
