I’m Trying to Grow a Green Thumb

Have you ever tried to grow houseplants but quickly realized you didn’t know what you were doing? Well, now you know how I feel. I’ve been doting on these little plants for WEEKS…. watering them, moving them around my apartment, just staring at them, buying fancy planters, then buying the classic terra cotta planters, repotting, and worrying about them….. It’s been pretty ridiculous really. And I won’t even tell you how many websites I’ve gone to for help (I won’t tell you because I’ve lost count!) These poor little plants. And one of them (conspicuously not in any of the photographs) is a plant that everyone says “you CAN’T kill”…. they grow anywhere….. they hardly need any light….. you can just put it in water and watch it grow….. blah, blah, blah (many of you probably know which plant I’m talking about) well anyway, mine almost died! Yep, one yellow leaf dried up and fell off after another so I finally just took it out of the soil and put it in plain ole’ FILTERED water. And the next day another leaf started to turn yellow. (sigh) Tomorrow morning I’ll do the sad deed of removing that dead leaf and discarding it, and then I’ll wonder what else I can do. Hmmm….. I’m trying to turn my murderous, plant killing thumb into a green thumb. I’m trying;-)

What a lovely, lovely spring wedding! Amelie and Greg decided on a sweet elopement style wedding day which started at City Hall, meandered in and around Grand Central Terminal, then moved to Central Park. I love how Amelie’s dress is so modern and fun! A few weeks later they had huge celebrations in the UK and Canada. And why not? All their friends were waiting with ecstatic congratulations:-)

Fathers are the ones who immediately know their lives are changed forever with the birth of a child. With a watchful eye, they care for and protect us, providing their uniquely fatherly love. They have the best dance moves, and send encouraging text messages. They make us laugh just before we start to cry. They pick us up when we fall, they spin us around and throw us high into the sky! They know when seasons change and it’s time to let us fly. Their presence is always with us, no matter where we have gone. There’s something reassuring in the way they face life, manfully pressing on. What can I say? All this and more, I’ve learned from my own father. And now, more than ever, I thank God for him. In praise of fathers, because they mean the world to us.

What can be more awesome and awe-inspiring than photographing the children, the offspring? It gives me great joy to meet the little ones after having witnessed and photographed their parents nuptials. Wow…. how incredible:-)
