A Film Photography Blog

I decided to return to film photography and kiss digital cameras goodbye (oh my!). So for consistency's sake, I started a new all-film blog. But there's still three years' worth of work on my Old Blog, linked above.....

Who am I?  I'm a Film-Based Fine Art Wedding and Portrait Photographer living in New York.  I love to travel, sing, and take photographs, especially of people.  After God, there really isnʼt anything more fascinating, more perplexing, more complicated, more compelling, or more attractive than another person.

My photography is a gift from God.

I sing in the choir at Times Square Church. We meet backstage (under the stage) before each service for encouragement and prayer. Here was a rare moment in the afternoon when no one else was there. I spend a lot of time in this area….. :-)

Through Gates of Splendor

One year ago today was the funeral for my Grandma Helen. Actually it was a Homegoing Service. I miss her, still, so much. So much. Less ache today than one year ago. Praise God!
She was an awesome grandmother :-) Now she is safe, because she was saved.

Humble. Kind. Generous. Thoughtful. Encouraging. Patient. Gentle. Playful.

In her presence you always felt safe. But the liberty and comfort that we gained cost her something. It cost her little deaths here and there. It meant buttoning her lips when anyone else would have fought for the last word. It meant smiling, even when she was in pain. It meant sacrifice, after sacrifice, after sacrifice. But the most poignant thing to me was when my grandma said “Yes” and remarried my grandfather (after 47 years of divorce!) Later I asked her why. And she said, “I did it for you all.” Besides still loving my grandfather, this was her effort to bring our family reconciliation and restoration and life. And it worked! That was a very powerful thing she did. Very powerful! She set something in motion in the unseen realm that has brought life and healing.

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. Those who love their life in this world will lose it. Those who care nothing for their life in this world will keep it for eternity. John 12:24-25

I had lunch recently with these two lovely ladies. Angela and Catarina of Affiance-Events. (I love Catarina’s sunglasses!) We’ve been working together lately and wow, such fun! Can’t wait to share some of these beautiful weddings.
